What are public lands volunteer jobs? Public lands volunteer jobs are unpaid host positions at federal agencies including BLM, U.S. Forest Service, Army Corps of Engineers, National Park Service, and Fish & Wildlife Service. Some positions provide a campsite, and some offer stipends, in exchange for weekly service hours; benefits and required hours vary by listing.

As a public lands volunteer, you don't receive a paycheck, but your compensation is substantial in other ways. Some positions include an RV campsite for the duration of your service; hookups vary by site — some offer partial or full hookups, others have none. Some agencies also provide a small daily stipend, entrance passes (which may include the America the Beautiful pass), reimbursed propane, or access to agency facilities and training resources.
