Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) lists its state park host season as May through September. Glacier National Park says its campground seasons run from mid-May through mid-October depending on the campground. Plan arrival, and any travel over mountain passes, around those windows and confirm exact dates with each employer.
FWP's host page says park hosts must provide their own housing, equipment, and personal items, that weekly time commitments differ for single hosts and couples, and that a background check is required. It says only some sites are eligible for a stipend. Positions are grouped by FWP region, including the Kalispell, Missoula, Bozeman, Great Falls, Billings, Fort Peck, and Miles City areas. Because the page does not publish a single deadline, contact the park manager or FWP well before the season starts.
Glacier says campground hosts serve in the National Park Service Volunteer-in-Parks program, that most campgrounds have full hookups for hosts while a few have more limited utilities, and that most host positions require a commitment of about three months because of training. Applications are kept on file for supervisory review through the calendar year. The park says Going-to-the-Sun Road has no set date for opening over Logan Pass, and the lower sections remain open all year, so check current road status when planning travel.
FWP lists current paid openings on its employment page, separate from volunteer host applications. Federal seasonal jobs appear on USAJOBS, and unpaid federal volunteer roles appear on Volunteer.gov. Check each posting's dates and requirements.
Ask in writing whether an RV site is included, which hookups are provided, whether any costs or stipend apply, what hours are expected of each person, how cold nights or early snow at higher elevations could affect your dates, and what the application involves.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks describes park host as a volunteer position and says hosts provide their own housing and equipment, with a stipend available only at some sites. Paid openings are listed separately on the FWP employment page. Confirm what a specific park offers before you accept.
FWP lists its state park host season as May through September, and Glacier National Park says its campground seasons run from mid-May through mid-October depending on the campground. Private campgrounds and other agencies set their own dates, so read each listing and confirm with the employer.
