Private RV parks, KOA campgrounds, and independent RV resorts operate on a completely different model from state and national parks — and that difference often translates to better pay, more amenities at the host site, and a wider variety of roles beyond traditional camp hosting. Private employers set their own rates, pick their own seasons, and frequently offer perks like cable TV, Wi-Fi, swimming pool access, and laundry facilities at the employee campsite.
KOA (Kampgrounds of America) is the largest private campground network in North America, with over 500 locations across the United States and Canada. KOA camp hosts and seasonal employees often receive a free full-hookup site plus an hourly wage, and many franchises welcome couples who can each take on different roles within the campground.
Independent resorts and private RV parks round out the private employer category. These range from small mom-and-pop operations with 30 sites to luxury destination resorts with hundreds of sites, swimming pools, golf courses, and activity programs. Pay tends to be higher at destination resorts, as does the variety of job roles available.
