Workamping Job Data Methodology

A transparent look at where HitchPath's workamping job data comes from, how it's collected, and how it's categorized.

What Types of Listings We Include

HitchPath focuses exclusively on workamping and outdoor hospitality opportunities — roles where RV site access, seasonal work, or living on-site is part of the deal.

Paid Jobs

Positions with hourly wages, salary, or seasonal pay. Campground hosts, maintenance, retail, and management roles.

Volunteer Opportunities

Positions with non-monetary compensation — typically RV site, utilities, and in-kind benefits. Federal and state public lands programs.

RV Site Included Positions

Any role — paid or volunteer — where a full hookup or partial hookup RV site is included as part of compensation.

Seasonal Work

Summer season, winter season, and year-round positions. We include start/end dates when the employer provides them.

Outdoor Hospitality

Campground host, camp store, activity guide, recreation staff, and similar roles at campgrounds, resorts, and outdoor venues.

What We Exclude

To keep HitchPath focused on genuine workamping opportunities, we deliberately exclude:

  • General park ranger and law enforcement ranger positions
  • Wilderness ranger or backcountry positions (unless campground-specific)
  • Recreation technician roles unrelated to campground hosting
  • Remote office or administrative-only positions
  • Jobs with no RV site or outdoor hospitality component
  • Listings that appear scammy, misleading, or unverifiable
