The people behind HitchPath

We’re Mark and Megan Holshouser, full-time RV travelers and the people behind HitchPath.
I’m Mark, HitchPath’s founder. With 20 years of experience in IT, I built our workamping job board and mobile app to simplify a search I was struggling with myself. Before HitchPath launched in June 2026, I used it to find our first park-hosting assignment.
Megan is a travel nurse with a background in nursing education. She handles HitchPath’s social media and contributes article ideas and research—and she’s the reason our life on the road began in the first place.
Megan and I met while working at a nursing college. When I proposed, she had one condition: “I’ll say yes if we buy a camper and travel.”
Of course, I said yes.
We sold many of our possessions, bought a truck and camper, and began living in our RV full-time. We had both explored Europe, but realized how much of our own country we hadn’t seen. We wanted to make time to experience it.

When I started looking for camp-hosting opportunities, I found myself moving between government websites, trying to navigate different systems and figure out what would fit our travels. Even with my technical background, the process felt complicated.
I began bringing opportunities from multiple sources together in one place, making them easier to browse while linking back to the original listings. Finding our own assignment through the site gave me a reason to keep going.
HitchPath launched in mid-June 2026 to help people find workamping and campground-host jobs, whether they already live on the road or are planning their first extended trip.
Megan’s travel-nursing career and my interest in workamping help shape where we go. We look for places where I can help at a park while she takes a nursing assignment nearby.
Our first hosting assignment is coming up. I’ll help maintain trails, restrooms, and park grounds in exchange for our campsite while Megan works in the area. We’re learning firsthand how much planning goes into coordinating two people’s work and a place to stay.

I manage the website, mobile app, and technical side of HitchPath. Megan brings her ideas, research, and social media work, with support from a few part-time employees.
HitchPath is my passion. I enjoy working on it and making the search easier for the next person who’s wondering how to make travel and work fit together.
Outside of HitchPath, I enjoy exercising and spending time with Megan and our rescue beagles, Lily and Ellie. Lily is a breast cancer survivor, and both dogs are a big part of our life on the road.
Exploring different communities and cultures across America has given us more than places to visit. We’ve made lifelong friends, and those connections are among the most meaningful parts of our travels.
