Position Description: Live and Work in Yosemite. Will be working in Yosemite Valley Welcome Center and out in the field. We (The Division of Interpretation) try to connect people to place! (40 hours/week)
Housing Type: Dorm room in Yosemite Valley Rangers Club.
Major Duties:
- Staff Welcome Center and Public Information Office.
- Provide the public with up-to-date, accurate park information in a calm, patient and polite manner.
- Informal Roves: Conduct scheduled patrols of highly used areas to provide information, orientation, and education, and to effectively interpret park resources. May include operating a vehicle.
- Develop and present interpretive programs (not required): Research, prepare and present interpretive walks for various audiences. Program content should be relevant to Yosemite National Park’s interpretive themes, and presented in a manner consistent with the Interpretive Development Program’s standards. Program Outlines must be submitted for approval and are subject to evaluation by Valley interpretive leads.
Minor Duties
- Perform clerical duties such as operating a copy machine and filing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Season: Start in early January with season ending late March/early April. We preferentially hire people who can work the entire Winter season. Three month minimum work requirement for this position.
