This former part of George Washington's sprawling River Farm now unfortunately grows a more... invasive crop.
Pitch in to assist our partners Friends of Mount Vernon Trail with removing non-native plants from this picturesque historic site! The park's splendid waterside views and proximity to Mount Vernon make it ideal for outdoor excursions, so every bit of invasive species cleared out greatly improves its conditions and natural health.
Gather with other volunteers by the (closed) public restrooms at 9:00 AM, where Friends leaders will have all the equipment and instructions you'll need. Please wear long sleeves and pants, high socks, and sturdy footwear to protect against thorns and possible poison ivy and ensure you have enough water & sunscreen, too.
Sign up below to get weeding and register with the Friends to receive additional information!
