Join our team in preserving the rich history of Carlsbad Caverns National Park. We are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with essential collections care and documentation tasks. This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in museum work, history, or archival preservation. Volunteers with strong attention to detail, an interest in museum work, and a willingness to learn.
We are currently seeking local volunteers in the Carlsbad, NM area. Please note that park housing is not available for this opportunity. Schedules will be a few hours per week on specific days with the length of service on a short-term or ongoing commitment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with ongoing inventory of museum objects
• Scan and digitize historic photographs and slides
• Rehouse objects, particularly photographic materials, using archival methods
• Integrate records into established archival groups
• Catalog items and update collection records
Preferred Skills:
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to follow instructions and handle delicate materials with care
• Interest in history, museums, or archival work
