Historical Research and Curation Volunteer Post Description

Honouliuli National Historic Site is looking for a minimum of six volunteers who will work alongside the archeologist as a member of the Cultural Resources team. For archival research opportunities, volunteers must be comfortable and capable working in an office environment. Additionally, some travel to off-site archives may occur. Doing work virtually for the park is also possible.

The work includes, but is not limited to:

· Lifting boxes containing books or documents

· Work with database software (Excel, etc.) to organize digital collection files for the park using a personal computer

· Reading documents, recognizing relevant data, and taking concise, orderly notes

· Local travel to research facilities and archives

· Taking direction and working on your own at research facilities

· Working with museum curation staff to organize and catalog collections

Volunteer work will be on as-needed/as-available basis. Time logs can be recorded in volunteer.gov based on hours worked for the park. Research may be conducted online, on a personal computer, or in-person at park facilities or off-site locations.

Please let cultural resources staff know of your availability for potential in-person opportunities.

Training and orientation may be provided before your first workday and will count as volunteer hours.
