The Hat Creek Ranger District is looking for people with positive attitudes and helpful dispositions who want to be part of the Visitor Services team. Visitor Services operates the Front Desk and the Visitors Information Center on our district. The selected applicants will perform daily activities to support the operations of the visitor services team including greeting visitors, answering phone calls, book and map sales, inventory, and general offices procedures. Applicants will also assist with interpretive exhibits, informational displays, and Forest Service activities. The applicant will provide guidance to the public on rules and regulations regarding recreation and may issue an array of permits.


Location and hours are dependent on season. District office hours are Monday-Friday and the Visitor Center hours are usually Thursday – Monday. Scheduled hours are preferable.


Volunteers must be able to serve in a team environment, with strong verbal and written communication skills. The selected individuals will need to maintain a professional demeanor and appearance. Volunteers will receive on the job training.


Possible RV pad available.


Visitor Services duties include:

 

§ Meeting/greeting the public

§ Answering questions

§ Fielding phone calls.

§ Working on interpretive displays.

§ Performing cleaning duties

§ Performing gardening duties.

§ Helping with field trips.

§ Selling books and maps.

§ Clerical duties

§ Stocking/tracking/brochures.

§ Helping plan/prepare special events, workshops and outreach programs.

§ Other duties as assigned.

Must possess a valid state drivers license.
