2026 Maintenance Volunteer

Help preserve and improve the developed areas of Yosemite National Park by joining the Facilities Management team as a Facilities Maintenance Volunteer. Volunteers work alongside National Park Service employees on projects that directly enhance the visitor experience while helping protect one of America's most iconic national parks. Projects may include repairing and assembling picnic tables, drilling and installing hardware, sanding wood surfaces, performing minor carpentry tasks, cleaning and organizing maintenance shops, removing fallen branches and vegetative debris, assisting with campground preservation and beautification projects, transporting tools and materials, and supporting other light maintenance assignments. Work varies based on priorities and park needs. Volunteers receive task-specific training, safety orientation, and direct supervision from National Park Service Staff. Operation of hand tools, power tools, and sand equipment is permitted only after required training, supervisor authorization, completion of applicable safety documentation, and while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). No previous maintenance experience is required. This opportunity is available on a full-time or part-time basis depending on project needs and volunteer availability. Work is performed primarily outdoors and involves walking on uneven terrain, lifting and carrying materials, and working in a variety of weather conditions.
