Position Overview:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking Volunteer Campground Hosts/Attendants for Bardwell Lake Dam in Ennis, Texas. Bardwell Lake, a historic site that provides flood control, water conservation, and recreational opportunities, is seeking volunteers to assist with campground operations and provide excellent customer service to park visitors. As a Campground Host/Attendant, you'll play a key role in maintaining the park’s welcoming environment and supporting the recreational activities that are enjoyed by visitors year-round.

Key Responsibilities:

Campground Operations: Assist with check-in and registration of campground visitors, ensuring that all guests have the necessary permits and information for their stay.

Visitor Services: Provide information to campers and visitors about the park, local attractions, and recreational activities available at Bardwell Lake.

Facility Maintenance: Perform light maintenance tasks around the campground, including cleaning restrooms, picnic areas, and fire rings, as well as monitoring the condition of facilities.

Public Relations: Foster a positive and friendly atmosphere by assisting visitors and addressing their needs or concerns.

Pass Sales: Sell and issue America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Passes, including collecting fees, handling cash or electronic payments, and maintaining accurate sales records.

Resource Protection: Ensure that park rules and regulations are followed to preserve the natural resources and maintain safety throughout the campground.

Inventory Management: Assist with tracking supplies and materials for campground facilities, reporting any needs to the park staff.

Qualifications:

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Ability to work independently and interact with a diverse group of visitors.

Ability to handle light maintenance tasks and keep the campground areas clean and well-kept.

Experience in camping, outdoor recreation, or hospitality is preferred but not required.

Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.

A friendly and helpful attitude is essential for providing excellent visitor service.

Must be able to commit to a set schedule and remain in the position for a full season.
