Gulf Islands National Seashore's Resource Education Division is seeking volunteers to assist staff with visitor services and interactions at William M. Colmer Visitor Center in Davis Bayou and on Ship Island.
Duties include:
- Welcoming and interacting with guests, answering questions, and providing information about the park
- Assisting with visitor service operations (i.e. opening and closing the visitor center, Fort Massachusetts, etc.)
- Informing visitors of park services and programs
- Providing informal "roving" interpretation
- Recording daily visitation statistics and volunteer hours
- Deliver formal guided interpretive programs (optional)
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 18
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent customer service skills, public speaking skills, and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work enthusiastically with diverse audiences
- Positive attitude and ability to build respectful working relationships
- A federal background investigation may be required
All training will be provided. No housing is available for this position.
