Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument is considered one of the most remote locations in the lower 48 United States. As such, we strive to bring park experiences to the people of our gateway communities. Parashant is seeking a community engagement volunteer to assist with outreach and education events in the local area. Opportunities for cross-training in the areas of photography, visitor services, and interpretation may be available based on volunteer interest.


Volunteer Will:

  • Work with National Park Service (NPS) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) staff to represent Grand Canyon-Parashant to the general public at various outreach events
  • Provide general information and directions about the monument
  • Maintain outreach materials
  • Track and report number of interactions

Volunteer may, based on training and approval:

  • Operate telescopes, binoculars, and other viewing equipment during public events
  • Take photographs of the monument as well as community events
  • Hand out junior ranger materials and other brochures
  • Help set up equipment including tents, tables, chairs, etc.
