On a regular basis, volunteers will work in groups to collect water quality data from monitoring sites. During each visit, volunteers will clean the water monitoring device and check on the condition of the device. Optional tasks available to volunteers include technical support, weekly water monitoring device maintenance, and data analysis. Seasonally, during the winter months, volunteers have the option to collect additional water samples if there are drastic changes in the water quality data due to external factors, such as de-icing salt. This task is weather permitting and entirely voluntary. On occasion, volunteers will be asked to participate in stewardship projects, such as plantings, invasive species removal, monitoring project sites, river clean ups, watershed education, training, and meetings.

Volunteers must have an interest in community science projects, be hardworking, and be responsible. Anyone looking to gain experience in this field will be considered. Physical labor, such as lifting, kneeling, and some hiking may be expected. Volunteers are required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of training (provided by The Naure Conservancy).
