Joshua Tree Seed Cleaning - 10/20

This opportunity is open to applicants through Saturday, 10/10. Applicants can expect to be contacted with more information the week of 10/11.

Join Joshua Tree National Park's vegetation crew, while we work to preserve the immemorial Joshua Tree (Yucca Brevifolia), one seed at a time!

Volunteers will work alongside park staff, to assist in the cleaning of Joshua Tree seeds. Cleaned seeds will be used in the park's native plant nursery to be grown for restoration and preservation initiatives within the park. These tiny but mighty seeds need your help to prepare for planting, to keep this landscape intact for future generations to come, enjoy, and get inspired. Training and supervision will be provided by park staff. 

Date: 10/20/2026

Start time: 1:00 pm 

End time: 4:00 pm

Volunteers must:

• Live within 2 hours of the park
• Provide their own transportation to and from work site

Be able to:

• Bend and stand repeatedly
• Lift objects weighing up to ten pounds
• Safely use tools and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
• Interpret and follow oral and written instructions and maintain good and consistent communication with project managers

Activities include:

• Collaborating with park staff to clean native seeds.
• Working with tools and sharp objects.
• Working with soil.
• Gaining knowledge on seeds native to the Mojave and Colorado desert.

Participation is limited, and volunteers must register for the project beforehand. Registered participants will receive a confirmation email with detailed project information. 🦎 🌞
