Payne Lake Campground Host

Main Goals for this Position to Accomplish:

The campground host provides a presence and assistance at Payne Lake Recreation Area and to protect the facilities and natural resources within designated areas. As the host you are the face of the Forest Service and amazing customer service goes a long way.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

●       Visit campers at their site on an “as needed” basis. Direct campers to campground kiosk area rules and information to all new campers and area users. Go over rules with campers in the event deficiencies are noticed throughout the stay.

●       Clean and service restrooms. Restrooms will need to be checked more than once during heavy weekend and holiday use. Each bathroom should have an adequate supply of toilet paper, trashbags, etc.

●       Post reservations for pavilion when rented.

●       Clean/prepare day use pavilion area when rented out for guest.

●       Pick up trash along roadside.

●       Report needs within the developed recreation area/campground and adjacent facilities to recreation tech/recreation staff/supervisor in a timely fashion.

●       Report problems to recreation technicians, as needed. For serious law enforcement problems, contact agency FS Law Enforcement Officers or Hale County Law enforcement personnel as available. Coordinate with appropriate recreation staff, FS Law Enforcement, Hale County law enforcement agencies if there are any issues during/after business hours.

●       Check campsites when campers vacate the area to ensure safety and cleanliness for the next camper.

●       Attend monthly safety meeting at the District Office (will be notified in advance)

●       Understand and follow specific rules related to campground use and occupancy as well as associated day use activities. Provide firsthand customer service in developed recreation setting. Serve as Forest Service presence to oversee and monitor recreation/campground/camper conditions.

●       Redirect visitors to one of nine hunter camps such as South Sandy or Vick when no camping spots are left. If visitors do not want to camp at those locations, you can redirect them to one of the local Corps of Engineer sites.

●       Provide information to guests and to visitors of the national forest.

●       Maintain a wholesome, respectable and impartial presence to the public throughout the tenure as host. Host serves as a representative of the U.S. Forest Service. The Forest Service expects all its representatives to adhere to civic minded principles in their personal conduct and to exhibit a high degree of personal integrity. Acceptable conduct involves sincere respect for the rights and feelings of others and the assurance their personal conduct will not harm or be considered discriminatory to other volunteers, employees, or the Forest Service or cause an unfavorable reaction from the public.
