National Public Lands Day: Litter & Invasives Removal at Gravelly Point

Like earth meets water, it's time to come together and celebrate National Public Lands Day!

This is the nation's largest day of volunteering and the perfect chance to help our partners Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail remove litter & invasive plants from this popular recreational space. Located amidst the Potomac River, Gravelly Point is both incredibly panoramic yet also susceptible to pollution and non-native vegetation. Left-behind garbage can contaminate the nearby water, while overgrown plant species threaten to tarnish the terrestrial scenery. With your assistance, we can get rid of both and leave a healthier park for everyone to enjoy!

Meet up by the parking lot at 9:00 AM to receive equipment and instructions from Friends group leaders. Be sure to dress for the weather and, if you choose to tackle invasives, wear protective clothing in case of thorns/poison ivy.
