We’re looking for fun-loving Education and/or Outreach Volunteers! You’ll be helping Park Rangers staff a variety of educational activities, children’s craft activities and information booths to familiarize event attendees with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Los Angeles District. Depending on the timing of the event, shifts may be for the entire event or from two to four hours in length. We’re looking for volunteers that have flexible schedules, who live locally (because housing is not provided), have their own means of transportation, and have a minimum of a HS degree. If you’re interested in helping in a school setting with children under the age of 18, you will be asked to go through a background check.

 

Programs may include topics such as:

  • Corps Mission (flood risk management, navigation, water supply, regulatory, environmental stewardship, and recreation),
  • Cultural/Historical (archaeological sites, historical buildings, etc.),
  • Environmental (nature/environmental issues or programs),
  • General Safety (non-water related safety programs),
  • Project Tour (on-site tours provided by Corps staff of the main facilities relative to primary missions and features of the dam/project), and/or
  • Water Safety (water safety efforts, programs, and outreach).
