Tree Wrapping Volunteer Event at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens

Join the Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens and National Park Service for the last monthly volunteer day of the year!

Help protect the trees of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens from the busy beavers. As beaver activity increases this fall, volunteers will cut lengths of welded-wire fencing to size for approximately 252 trees near the ponds, pools, and wetland boardwalk. Each piece will be wrapped around a tree trunk and secured to form a sturdy circular barrier, shielding the bark from gnawing and damage. This hands-on project directly safeguards the park's beloved tree canopy, cultural integrity, and public viewshed that makes Kenilworth so special.

Meet volunteer leaders at the visitor center at 9:00 AM on October 24 to get oriented, choose a project, and receive the proper equipment. Please dress for the weather in clothes you don't mind getting dirty, wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, and bring water.
