Fort Laramie NHS Historic Cannon and Rifle Crew

Come join the Fort Laramie NHS Cannon and Rifle Crew! Learn how to fire these historic 1800s weapons and teach visitors how they were used at the historic fort. We will provide all clothing and equipment for volunteering.

The duties of this volunteer position include,

·        Wearing historic clothing of an 1800s army soldier.

·        Assisting in the handling and firing of black powder weapons.

·        Following safety orders of the historic weapons supervisor.

·        Working together with other volunteers and park staff to fire these weapons.

·        Perform informal interpretations for the public.

·        Becoming trained in handling and operating historic weapons.

Available on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays!

Due to the nature of the operation, arriving on time for your shift is very important. If a volunteer is unable to report for their shift or will be late, letting your supervisor or their designee know as far in advance as possible is vital to smooth operations.

There is no lodging available at the park.
