Overview and Brief Description of Work
Natural Resources Volunteers help support natural resource stewardship operations throughout Fire Island National Seashore. This includes, but is not limited to, threatened and endangered species inventory and monitoring, vegetation monitoring, white-tailed deer monitoring, insect, and arachnid surveys.
Main Goals for this position
The volunteer will work in concert with park staff and other volunteers to inventory and monitor various aspects of the Seashore’s natural resources.
Although monitoring shorebirds is the primary responsibility of the position, there may be opportunities for field experience in other research/monitoring programs within the Natural Resource Stewardship Division.
