We're always grateful for views like this, though some plants sure aren't...
Join our partners Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail over Thanksgiving weekend to remove invasive species along their namesake pathway! This particular stretch runs by the Potomac River, offering sweeping vistas of nearby Theodore Roosevelt Island and the National Mall. Unfortunately, non-native vegetation can choke out both these panoramas and the trees framing them, so we need your help cutting them away.
Everyone meets at this specific point in the trail at 10:00 AM, and there are several ways to get there. Parking is available at Theodore Roosevelt Island (0.7 mile from meeting spot) or Columbia Island Marina (1.3 mile from meeting spot). You can also metro to the Arlington Cemetery stop, 1.1 mile from the trail.
The Friends will have the necessary equipment and detailed instructions. Make sure to dress for the weather in thorn/poison ivy-proof clothes and bring water with you.
Take in some views while giving back to nature by registering below and on the Friend's website!
