Save Ellis Island is working to preserve and restore the Ellis Island Hospital Complex while sharing the stories of the hospital with individuals from all over the world. There are twenty-nine buildings waiting to be restored and Save Ellis Island needs your help.

Save Ellis Island offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, for example,

  • Tour Guide – Take visitors on a 90-minute Hard Hat Tour through select buildings of the unrestored Ellis Island Hospital.
  • Meet and greet visitors to Ellis Island in the Immigration Museum at the Save Ellis Island Visitor Information desk.
  • Photography Tour Guide - Take photographers on a 3-hour Photography Tour through the unrestored Hospital Complex.

We offer training, a great team and a fun and educational atmosphere to work in.

History, art, preservation, education, architecture and the history of medicine all come alive at the Ellis Island Hospital complex. Share the rich past of Ellis Island through our education and public programs. Contribute your time and skills to a cause you believe in.

Volunteers can travel to Ellis Island by ferry at no charge, meet people from different cultures, do something you are passionate about. Discounts are available in the gift shops and restaurants.

We are looking for volunteers to work from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Sunday through Saturday.
