Roosevelt Interpreter & Visitor Experience Representative Volunteer Team

Do you love the outdoors, enjoy connecting with people, and want to make a meaningful difference at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area? Become a R.I.V.E.R. Volunteer and help visitors discover the stories, landscapes, and experiences that make this place unforgettable.


What You’ll Do as a R.I.V.E.R. Volunteer

• Welcome visitors at the visitor center, provide trip-planning support, and help people feel at home in the park.

• Lead informal interpretation through porch talks, roves, and spontaneous conversations that spark curiosity and stewardship.

• Share engaging stories about the area’s natural resources, history, wildlife, and recreation opportunities.

• Support resource protection by encouraging safe, responsible enjoyment of the park.

• Assist with special events, youth programs, and hands‑on activities.

• Grow your skills through learning, research, collaboration, and time spent in the field.

• Ages 16+ — no prior experience needed, just curiosity and a desire to learn!
