This position will service the east side Huachuca Mountain Recreation sites such as Reef Townsite campground, Ramsey Vista campground, Brown Canyon Ranch day use area, Carr Canyon day use areas, Miller Canyon Trail heads, Hunter canyon (general forest area), and Ash Canyon (general forest area).
Minimum of 24 volunteer hours
a week is expected for this position.
General duties include
restroom maintenance, campground maintenance, public contacts, and updating
visitor information boards. Host must be able to handle garbage bags and
clean restrooms. While host will not handle fees, volunteer would be expected
to restock fee envelopes at pay stations. String trimming grass/weeds
around facilities, recreation sites, trails and trail heads is commonly needed.
The Carr House "host
pad," where one would park their RV, is located away from our campgrounds
and day use sites. Carr House is a Forest Service administrative site that
has a small volunteer operated Visitor Center. You are not expected to
have any participation in the actives at the Visitor Center. Carr House
visitor center is only open on Saturday and Sunday from 8-4:30, and is a fairly
quiet location.
We offer full hook-ups
(electric, water, septic and provide propane) at this site. We also
provide a Forest Service vehicle so long as you can obtain a Forest Service
Drivers License. Also at this location is a small workshop area that has
extra room for your use. Laundry machines are provided, as well as an
additional stand up refrigerator/freezer.
