Seeley Lake RD Front Desk Admin Assistant

About the Role: 

As a Front Desk Volunteer, you’ll be an important point of contact for visitors exploring the Lolo National Forest. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing information about forest recreation opportunities, hiking, camping, fishing, and scenic areas

• Sharing guidance on forest products such as firewood permits

• Helping visitors understand access points for both motorized and non-motorized travel

• Offering general information about fire conditions, safety, and local community resources

• Answering multi-line phones and directing technical or specialized questions to the appropriate staff

• Keeping brochures, maps, and public information materials organized and accessible

What We’re Looking For:

• A friendly, helpful attitude and comfort interacting with the public

• Clear communication skills

• Reliability and willingness to learn

• Interest in outdoor recreation, public lands, or community service

Time Commitment: 

We are seeking a volunteer from May through September, four days per week. Scheduling details can be discussed to find a good fit.

Selected candidates will be provided a parking spur at The Ranger Station Admin loop with water, electric, and septic hookups for the duration of the season. Selectees will need to provide their own hard-sided RV or travel trailer.

About the Area:

The Ranger Station is located on the Northeast shoreline of Seeley Lake, a glacial-formed lake situated between the Swan and Mission Mountain ranges. Seeley Lake is one out of a half-dozen lakes within the valley that make up the ‘Chain of Lakes’—a series of small lakes through which the Clearwater River flows. It is a great place to enjoy the Lolo National Forest; plenty of space for picnicking and recreating on the water. 

If you enjoy spending time in mixed-conifer old growth forests, wildlife sightings, picturesque views, and a purpose in your day—this may be the summertime adventure for you!
