Do you have a passion for visual storytelling? Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park is looking for a Volunteer Photographer to capture parkwide events and scenery!


Volunteer Duties:

  • Photographing historic buildings, monuments, battlefield landscapes, wildlife, people, and park programs
  • Submit photographs to the supervisor monthly (at least ten high quality photos per month of at least two different subjects)

Equipment & Vehicles:

  • Volunteer must operate their personal vehicle to arrive at the duty site
  • Volunteer may use park equipment (Nikon D7500 DSLR with 18-140 mm lens)
  • Volunteer can choose to use their own photography equipment

Schedule:

  • Volunteer position is year-round with duties changing as seasons and weather permits
  • Volunteers will choose their own schedule
  • Estimated 6-hour per month commitment
  • Volunteer's attendance at special events will be requested well in advance

Lodging:

  • Housing is not available for this opportunity

Qualifications:

  • Experience with photography
  • Willingness to share photographs for use in digital media, exhibits, signage, or brochures
  • Ability to work independently and make safe decisions will out in the park

Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park is located in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, adjacent to the historic towns of Middletown and Strasburg, and is within the counties of Frederick, Shenandoah, and Warren. The park consists of approximately 3,713 acres that includes prehistoric resources, ecologically important areas, evidence of valley settlement and early European history of the region, examples of plantation life and culture, and nationally significant Civil War resources.
