Hosts help visitors in a variety of ways within this lively Refuge Visitor Center, on the surrounding nature trails and in the 2 historic cabins nearby. They share Refuge wildlife, recreation, and regulatory information with visitors. They staff the Refuge Visitor Center, greeting visitors, answering their questions, giving recommendations and directions, and delivering pop-up interpretive programs to interested guests. Hosts will also answer the phone and operate a movie auditorium for visitors. Hosts typically work a four-day work week, with days off falling on weekdays. Specific scheduling can include a three day on/three day off schedule to still maintain the minimum 32 hours per week (64 hours per pay period) while giving more flexibility to volunteer schedules.
