Make a Splash as a Water Quality Monitoring Assistant!

Ready to dive into science, scenery, and service? Join us at Padre Island National Seashore as a Water Quality Monitoring Assistant and help protect the waters that make this place extraordinary!

As part of our Science & Resource Management team, you will:

  • Assist in sampling six beautiful stations—three on the Gulf and three on the Laguna—for bacteria concentrations to be reported to the Texas Beach Watch program
  • Follow real scientific protocols for accurate water collection
  • Wade into Gulf and Laguna waters to collect samples (water shoes encouraged!)
  • Serve as a safety observer, keeping your fellow samplers safe

If you’re passionate about conservation, comfortable getting your feet wet, and excited to support meaningful science, we’d love to welcome you aboard!

Water sampling work will be scheduled on Monday or Tuesdays from 8am-12pm.

Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of two days per month.
