🌱Do you have a passion for gardening? Are you interested keeping the birthplace of American independence beautiful year-round? Have you always wanted to work in a national park? This is the opportunity for you!🪴
Independence National Historical Park is seeking eager volunteers to join our Wednesday Garden Crew. This group meets most Wednesdays throughout the year and assists the Facility Management Division with maintaining park green spaces. Tasks include but are not limited to: Weeding garden beds, mulching, planting new plant materials, trimming overgrowth, removing leaf debris, and light trash removal. Additional opportunities to volunteer outside of the recurring Wednesday timeslot may be available on an irregular basis.
By registering for this opportunity, you acknowledge that this volunteer position meets on Wednesday mornings throughout the year. Although volunteers are not required to assist on a weekly basis, you are expected to volunteer at least 2 hours per month. Individuals who do not meet this requirement will be removed from the volunteer roster and will have to reapply for this opportunity.
Tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) needed for each task will be provided to volunteers throughout the duration of each activity. Individuals are not expected to supply their own gardening tools or equipment. Should personal equipment be used, the National Park Service is not liable for damages, theft, or loss of these items.
Note: Although this posting asks individuals to "Apply," anyone who submits an application will be considered initially registered for the Wednesday Garden Crew. You will be contacted by the "Point of Contact" with further instructions and must submit liability forms before being considered a member of the Wednesday Garden Crew. These forms will be available in your Volunteer.gov account within a week of your initial application.
