Join us on September 19, 2026 for the 42nd annual Coastal Cleanup Day – the statewide movement that helps clear trash from California’s coastlines and inland waterways every year! Volunteers will enjoy beautiful ocean views while they remove litter, protect native habitats, help minimize marine debris, and care for a shoreline that connects people, wildlife, and communities across our region. This is a fun family-friendly volunteer opportunity, volunteers of all ages are welcome! Registration Required.
Coastal Cleanup Day is a statewide effort hosted by the California Coastal Commission. For additional sites on the bay side of San Francisco, Marin, San Mateo counties (outside of the GGNRA boundaries, check out the map on the Coastal Commission's website.
This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the California Coastal Act, the landmark legislation that set the standard for coastal resource protection! Learn more and share your memories of California's Coast here.
When: Saturday, September 19, 2026; all events are from 9am - noon.

Registration: Check availability and register at the Golden Gate Parks Conservancy Website! Please be sure to select your desired site from the "Select a Date & Time" drop-down on the registration form. Note that applying through volunteer.gov is not sufficient for registration. Please use the link below to access their website.
What to Bring: We invite volunteers to bring their own reusable supplies! Limit waste by bringing your own bag or bucket and gloves if you have them - but don't worry if you don't, we'll have some supplies on site for you to use. Wear proper clothing - closed-toe shoes (no sandals), a hat, and layers - and bring a personal water bottle and sunscreen.
