Fire and Fuel Mitigation Community Volunteer Event

Assist in our preparation for fall prescribed burns! We will move woody debris into piles to reduce the risk of wildfires on the Refuge. Volunteers will gather at the Visitor Center and then head out to the designated project site. If arriving after 9 am, call the Visitor Center at (303) 289-0232 to confirm project location. All volunteers must sign a Volunteer Service Agreement in person at the start of the project. Volunteer.gov is the sign-up; once you sign up on volunteer.gov you are on the list! An email with more logistics will be sent on 9/17.

Materials to bring are closed-toed shoes, long pants, gloves if you have your own, protection against the sun, and light jacket. 15 pair of loaner gloves will be available on a first come basis. 

Children under 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This activity is recommended for 12 years and older.
