2027 Winter Hetch Hetchy Entrance Station Volunteer

Position Description: Hetch Hetchy Entrance Station Volunteers are the first point of contact for visitors entering the park. This role is essential for providing a welcoming, informative and positive experience while supporting park operations.

Volunteers will assist with:

• providing park information
• answer questions
• distribute park maps and educational materials
• assist with backcountry permits
• collect and maintain visitor statistics.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to work with the rangers daily at Hetch Hetchy and recreate freely within Yosemite National Park on lieu days for the duration of the appointment. Scheduling and days off will be determined based on staffing levels. Volunteers will work in mountainous winter conditions including rain, snow and ice. Due to the weather and winding roads, it is highly recommended that volunteers have a 4WD or AWD capable vehicle. Hiking trails are available in the area. The Evergreen and Rush Creek Lodges offer a small store and restaurant within a 10-minute drive. Groveland – the nearest small town – is approximately 45 minutes from the duty station and has a small grocery store. Sonora is approximately an hour and a half drive from the housing, if larger stores are needed.

Lodging Details: Shared housing is provided for this position (if working 32+ hours a week) and is approximately 30 yards from the duty station. RV hookups are not available at the duty station but may be available in a different housing area approximately 45 minutes away.
