Honouliuli Tour Docent (Year-long)

Tour Docent Volunteer Description 

Honouliuli National Historic Site is looking for volunteers who will work with park staff and other volunteers as docents for the park. Volunteers must be physically able to conduct the work outlined and can work in extreme weather conditions (rain, heat, high humidity, etc.), be able to walk, speak, and stand for several hours, and have a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and customer service skills.

The work includes but is not limited to: 

• Preparing the park for public tours 
• Giving guided tours of the park to the public 
• Managing large groups of people and their safety 

Volunteers will be responsible for preparing park grounds for tours, giving guided tours of the park to the public, and having efficient time and people management skills. Tours will be run at least once a month with preparation of the site done the day prior to the tour. Volunteer docents must give at least five guided tours throughout the year. 

Training and orientation will be provided before your first workday and will count as volunteer hours. Training may also be virtual. All training opportunities may take time prior to the first tour. All docents must be certified in CPR/First Aid (training will be offered to those who are not certified.)
