Trail Patrol and Monitor

Lewis and Clark National Historical Park is seeking dedicated volunteers to patrol park trails throughout the year. Trail patrol volunteers monitor and report trail conditions, perform light trail maintenance tasks, pick up any litter they find, and are share information about points of interest and wayfinding with visitors. 

Applicants should be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, mainly rain. Being able to walk on slippery and uneven terrain, bending and lifting, and performing light maintenance work such as cutting brush and limbs under 6" in diameter are necessary to be successful in this position. An enthusiasm for the outdoors, history, and public lands is recommended but not required. 

Trail Patrol Volunteers are asked to patrol selected trails at least once every two months but may do so more frequently if they desire. Housing is not provided as part of this volunteer opportunity. Hand tools and training for trail maintenance are provided.
