Joshua Tree Litter Lifters - 10/14

Join us at Joshua Tree National Park for our monthly Litter Lifters work!

Each month we designate two days to beautify and restore the balance of the unique desert landscape. Volunteers will work with park staff to remove litter from popular areas of the heart of Joshua Tree National Park. This project involves physical labor including hiking, lifting, and repeated bending.

Date: Wednesday, 10/14/26

Start time: 8 am

End time: 11 am

Meeting location: Joshua Tree National Park - project location will be shared with confirmed volunteers

Activities include:

• Picking up displaced litter in various locations around Joshua Tree National Park especially along roadsides, at picnic areas, around parking lots, and at trailheads
•  Collecting litter with a gloved hand or extendable grabber tool

Volunteers must:

• Live within 1 hour of the park 
• Provide their own transportation to and from work sites 
• Be able to:
  • Lift and carry items weighing up to 5 pounds
  • Safely hike on uneven terrain for 2 miles
  • Be mindful of weather conditions and dress accordingly
  • Follow proper safety procedures and use standard safety equipment to avoid serious injuries
  • Always wear the provided personal protective equipment and follow litter removal protocol as working with litter involves the risk of contracting communicable disease

Participation is limited, so volunteers must register for the project beforehand. Your impact matters! 🐢
