Do you enjoy working outside at historic sites? Come join us on October 16th to help restore and improve our parks' health!
We will focus our efforts around the Frederick Douglass House removing English Ivy (Hedera helix) and other invasive vines from trees in the area. No prior experience or skills are necessary to attend!
Parking/transport: Parking is available here, and it is accessible by bus or walking distance from Anacostia Metro Station.
Where to meet: Meet at the circular drive at the top of the hill behind the house here.
Schedule: Check-in begins at 9:30am followed by a safety talk and instructions at 9:45am. Project work will begin at 10am and conclude at 12pm. Groups are welcome!
What to Bring: Please wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes (sneakers or boots are recommended). Please bring your own water!
Notes
-There will be access to the restrooms located at the visitor center.
-Tools and gloves will be provided on site.
-Any attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
-You will receive a confirmation email before the event with more details.
