2026 Campground Preservation Volunteer

Help preserve and improve Yosemite National Park's Campgrounds for millions of visitors by joining the Facilities Management team as a Campground Preservation Volunteer. Volunteers work alongside National Park Service employees to restore, improve and maintain developed campground facilities while protecting the natural beauty of Yosemite. Projects focus on preserving campground infrastructure and improving visitor areas. Duties may include removing invasive vegetation and overgrowth, reducing vegetation encroachment around campsites and walkways, collecting and removing vegetative debris, cleaning campsites, cleaning common areas, cleaning ash from fire rings, repairing or replacing picnic table components assisting with campground beautification projects, transporting tools and materials, and supporting other preservation projects as assigned. Volunteers will hand-tool landscaping and other campground improvement efforts. Volunteers will receive orientation, task-specific safety training, and direct supervision from National Park Service staff. Operation of hand tools power tools, and approved vegetation management equipment is permitted only after required training supervisor authorization, completion of applicable safety documentation, and while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). No previous experience is required. This opportunity is available on a full-time or part-time basis depending on project needs and volunteer availability. Work is performed outdoors in Yosemite's campgrounds and developed visitor areas and may involve hiking short distances, transporting participants via personal vehicles to campground sites, lifting materials, bending, kneeling, and working in varying weather conditions.
