The Biological Science Technician supports wildlife management and monitoring in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with an emphasis on black bear management and non-native wild hog control. Duties include responding to human-bear conflicts; capturing, handling, and monitoring wildlife; trapping and lethally removing wild hogs using firearms and specialized equipment; collecting biological samples and conducting necropsies; and collecting and managing field data. Work frequently occurs in remote, rugged terrain and may require extended backcountry travel and camping. The position also operates and maintains wildlife management equipment, vehicles, UTVs, and trailers and may assist with search and rescue, wildland fire, and other emergency operations. Hunting & fishing skills will be utilized for this role. Hiking several miles while carrying packs will also be required.
