Death Valley National Park is looking to hire campground hosts for the following locations:
More information about each campground can be found on the official Death Valley National Park website (links provided above). The Campground Operations Supervisor will conduct phone interviews to determine which campground is the best fit for each applicant.
General Position Description:
Must be available for the advertised start and end dates. More detailed information about camp host duties, tasks, and responsibilities can be provided upon request.
Camp hosts reside in their own RV and are responsible for greeting visitors and helping guests solve problems in a friendly and professional manner. Hosts wear the National Park Service Volunteer-in-Parks (VIP) uniform while on duty. Camp hosts must work well with people, provide excellent customer service, while being neat in appearance. They are responsible for performing fee and regulation compliance checks on foot (3x per day) and must be able to perform light maintenance of the campground. Candidates must be able to walk between 1-5 miles a day in all kinds of weather. Hosts are expected to work 32 to 40 hours a week, often during busy holidays and weekends. Fee Collection is NOT required of camp hosts.
Cell reception is spotty or even non-existent during periods of high visitation. Limited amenities are located in the Furnace Creek area and Stovepipe Wells area, including a few restaurants, small general store, gas station, and pool. WIFI is NOT provided in any of the campgrounds. Free WIFI is available at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center and Stovepipe Wells Ranger Station. Previous camp hosts have been successful with bringing in their own satellites and having their own internet setup. If you telework/work remotely, reliable internet is YOUR responsibility.
