Volunteer Art Ambassador educate and inspire visitors by demonstrating the creative process and supporting public art programming. Their passion, skill, and willingness continues the legacy of artists while working in this place of beauty and inspiration.
Duties may include:
- Paint, draw, sculpt, photography, write, and/or engage in another artform within park boundaries while representing the National Park Service and being available to interact with park visitors.
- Support park staff and partners in the delivery of arts programming including drop-in art activities and scheduled workshops.
- Assist with event/workshop set-up and take-down including moving chairs, tents, tables, and signs.
- Work with staff to create and deliver artwork to meet park communication, education, and/or interpretive needs.
- Safely drive a low-speed electric vehicle to shuttle visitors within the park. (optional)
All volunteers must:
- Foster culture of cooperation, professionalism, respect, and safety as a contributing member of the park team.
- Develop knowledge and awareness of the park’s programs, operations, and safety procedures through participation in park-led training.
- Learn and follow park radio and safety procedures.
- Adhere to all rules, guidelines, and laws in place by the park, the National Park Service, and federal government including the Saint-Gaudens NHP Volunteer Policy.
- Maintain a log of volunteer service hours either manually or digitally.
Additional Information
An otherwise copyrightable work (photograph, image, content, etc.) created by a volunteer who signs an NPS volunteer agreement form before creating the work as part of their volunteering duties is not subject to copyright protection pursuant to 17 U.S.C. § 105. Without such copyright protection, the work falls into the public domain and is available for anyone’s use – including NPS’s and the volunteer’s. Any work created during personal time (when not volunteering) is subject to the copyright of the owner.
