Position Description:

The position is as a desk officer, to help field staff by taking non-emergent service calls and file type reports. Earliest start date for the position would be in July, 2027.


Knowledge & Skills Desired:

A minimum of 15 years of law enforcement experience. Possess basic police report taking skills, basic computer skills. Works well with the public and fellow coworkers and supervisors. Possess a valid state driver’s license.


Primary Goal: To assist the field Ranger operations by taking non-emergent law enforcement reports, thereby allowing Park Rangers to respond as necessary to more emergent duties. To support other National Park Service work units on a short-term basis as specifically directed. Previous law enforcement experience required.

The position will also:

  • Provide park information to the visitors
  • Assist park personnel or Rangers as needed or directed
  • Drive a government vehicle
  • Direct traffic as needed
  • Assist with search and rescue
  • Use park radio system; use park telephone system
  • Complete any other duties appropriate for Desk Office volunteers as may be needed
