Spearhead Campground Host

The Medford/Park Falls Ranger District of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is looking for a motivated volunteer to serve as a campground host for Spearhead Point Campground. The campground is located approximately 20 miles northwest of Medford, Wisconsin and is situated on the shores of the popular Mondeaux Flowage. The flowage is known for great fishing, boating, paddle sports, and general recreation. The National Scenic Ice Age Trail runs through the campground and is a destination for hikers and recreationists. Spearhead Point is a primitive campground without electric or water hook-ups. 

Spearhead Point Campground is located within the Mondeaux Dam Recreation Area on the Medford-Park Falls Ranger District. It is a popular campground with 27 campsites. Each site is equipped with a parking spur, campfire ring, and a picnic table. Clean vault toilets and drinking water are offered throughout the campground and there is a glacial spring nearby as well. There is boat access to the Mondeaux Flowage, and many sites have small docks provided. Sites may be reserved through recreation.gov. There are accessible vault toilets and a fishing pier at the nearby Lakeview Day Use Site. A reservable picnic shelter is also available in the campground for campers. If not reserved, it is available on a first-come, first-serve basis to registered campers.

A boat landing and parking area for registered campers only accesses the 416-acre Mondeaux Flowage. There is no long-term or day-use parking for visitors entering the Ice Age National Scenic Trail within the campground. A dumpster is provided within the campground for registered campers.

So, if you like to hike, fish, swim, or canoe then the Mondeaux Dam Recreation Area is the place for you, located 25 minutes north of Medford. Spearhead Point Campground is pet friendly.
