Celebrate the 69th Anniversary of the Integration of Little Rock Central High School Alongside National Park Service Staff!


Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site staff and volunteers will commit a morning of public service dedicated to the tenacity and courage of the Little Rock Nine: Gloria Ray Karlmark, Elizabeth Eckford, Ernest Green, Melba Patillo Beals, Carlotta Walls LaNier, Jefferson Thomas, Thelma Mothershed, Terrence Roberts, and Minnijean Brown Trickey.


Together we will assist in the upkeep and beautification of Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site's landscaping. Tasks may include the following:

  • Leaf Raking and Removal
  • Trash Pickup
  • Flower Bed Weeding

No prior landscaping or volunteer experience is necessary. Park staff will provide all necessary tools and required PPE. ViPs will be expected to wear seasonally appropriate clothing that they are comfortable getting dirty and closed-toe shoes.


ViPs will meet at the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site Visitor Center between 8:45am and 9:00am for orientation, safety briefing, and PPE distribution.
