Crosby Crew Volunteers

Join Mississippi Park Connection and the National Park Service in caring for the Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change study plots at Crosby Farm Regional Park! This is a great opportunity to engage in climate change adaptation work and to explore a beautiful floodplain forest ecosystem.

Time: Select Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the year. Visit the shift sign-up page for full details.

Activities: Frequent activities include re-installing gates and fencing to help protect the research trees from herbivory, and plant maintenance to ensure access to the plots. The work generally requires bending down to reach parts of the gates or fencing, using tools like post pounders and wrenches, and bending/kneeling to remove plants

Terrain: Activities will take place in a wooded area, so volunteers should be comfortable working on uneven terrain. The walk to work site is 1+ mile one-way along a most flat, paved trail.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 16 years old or older to participate without an adult present.
• The event will be entirely outside. Please prep and plan for the day's weather conditions.
• No commitment necessary--come to one event or every event!
