Planting for Pollinators - Volunteer Workday

Join us for a hands‑on volunteer workday to enhance pollinator habitat in the public use area of the refuge. Volunteers will help plant milkweed in several mulched zones, creating vital breeding and nectar resources for monarchs and other native pollinators. Refuge staff will provide all guidance, tools, and training needed, and participants will learn how even small patches of native plants can support healthy ecosystems.

This is an outdoor, public‑area stewardship activity suitable for volunteers of all experience levels. Your time and efforts directly contribute to restoring pollinator habitat and supporting the refuge’s conservation mission.

WHEN

Friday, October 16 | 10 AM - 12 PM

WHERE

1 Wildlife Circle, Austwell, TX 77950. Meet at the visitor center.

WHAT TO WEAR:

Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather. Make sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and bug spray.

PLEASE NOTE:

Tools, PPE, snacks, and cool drinks will be provided thanks to the Friends of Aransas NWR.

If you are under 18 or bringing someone who is, please reach out to site contact ahead of time and let them know. Any attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

All participants will need to sign a volunteer service agreement to participate.
