Gulf Islands National Seashore is seeking to fill maintenance site host positions at Okaloosa Day Use Area, Opal Beach Complex, Perdido Key Area, and Fort Pickens Area. The Okaloosa Day Use Area is between Destin and Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Opal Beach Complex is on a barrier island along Highway 399 between Pensacola Beach and Navarre Beach. The Perdido Key Area is located near Perdido Key, Florida on the west side of Pensacola, Florida. The Fort Pickens Area is located west of Pensacola Beach near Pensacola, Florida.
Maintenance site hots work 32 hours a week per person from December 1, 2026 - March 31, 2026.
Site host duties include assisting park visitors, performing grounds maintenance, and general custodial duties. Site hosts will not be required to handle any law enforcement issues.
Park staff will provide training and support for assigned duties. Site hosts perform tasks independently without direct supervision. Staff will make regular contact to provide support, heavy maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
An RV pad with hookups will be provided. Volunteers should be comfortable living in an isolated location. No pets are permitted.
