The Sugar Pine Ranger District (formerly Summit Ranger District and Mi-Wok Ranger District) near Pinecrest, CA is looking for a handful of volunteers to be campground hosts at different locations on the Stanislaus National Forest. A campground host does a variety of different tasks:
· Clean restroom facilities
· Interact with, help, and answer questions from the public
· Communicate with Forest Service staff about campground operations and of concerns
· Ensure campsites are clean for the next visitors
· Pick up litter and micro trash around the campground
· Educate the public on campground rules and wildlife safety
· Clean out established fire rings
· Can help Forest Service staff with other project work
Camp Host locations we are looking to fill for the summer of 2026 are:
o Lake access nearby
o Potable water
o Bear boxes, picnic tables, fire rings
o Vault toilets
o 16 campsites
o Max length for RV/Trailer is 20 feet
o Host site has potable water and sewage hook ups

o 22 campsites
o Max length for RV/Trailer is 32 feet
o Host site has potable water and sewage hook ups
o Picnic tables, fire rings
o Vault toilets
o 14 campsites
o Max length for RV/Trailer is 20 feet
o Host site has sewage hook ups
o OHV trail access nearby
o Picnic tables, fire rings
o Vault toilets
o 10 campsites
o Max length for RV/Trailer is 20 feet
o Host site has sewage hook ups
o Picnic tables, fire rings
o Vault toilets
o 38 campsites
o Max length for RV/Trailer is 20 feet
o Host site has sewage hook ups
o Hiking and fishing access nearby
These locations do not have electricity and may not have cell service. Having an RV, Camper, Camp Trailer, or Sleeper Van is preferred. Hosts with tents may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Local amenities can be found in Twain Harte, Soulsbyville, and Sonora.
Camp hosts stay for free in campgrounds. The time commitment is typically from May – October but may vary based on the campground.
