Virtual Visit Design and Film Videographer

Do you have a talent for design or filming of media? Do you want to benefit students across the country? We need your skills on the Virtual Visit Design and Film Crew! Design and film videos for use in K-12th grade classrooms for students to engage with park themes in all subject areas. Work will very greatly with the changes in time of the year. A day may look like brainstorming ideas, designing scripts, filming and editing videos, or other related work. Work may take place in the Visitor Centers, at the Memorial Building, or on-site on trails or the grounds. Typically, volunteers in this position work a minimum of 8 hours a month. May vary with time of year. 

Position Duties:  

As a volunteer, you will create virtual visits for K-12th grade students, helping them understand the significance of the resources of the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace. Volunteers may be required to wear the provided volunteer uniform and badge and represent the National Park Service by acting in a courteous and professional manner with visitors, park staff, and other volunteers.  

Duties may also includes:  

• Following the schedule 
• Working with other volunteers to design films 
• Assist Education staff with prepping content and materials for programs as well as for on-site and off-site events.   
• Use film and sound equipment  
• Use adobe office products to edit video and sound  
• As needed, greet park visitors on the grounds and provide information about park and other duties as assigned. 
• Use of a government vehicle may be required while on duty. 

Qualifications:  

• Ability to communicate effectively and enthusiastically with members of the public.   
• Have a strong interest in natural resources and conservation.   
• Must have a positive attitude.  
• Ideal for people with experience using video equipment and editing software.  

Requirements:  

• Complete necessary administrative paperwork (Volunteer Service Agreement, Job Hazard Analysis, etc.).  
• Wear provided volunteer uniform while performing duties.   
• Report observed violations to appropriate staff. Do not perform law enforcement duties.   
• Represent the National Park Service in a professional manner.   
• Record volunteer hours in binder at the Front Desk or digitally online.   
• Will be required to undergo a general background investigation.   
• Will required to maintain government furnished PIV Card (ID card) to use laptop and related software.

Work Environment: Volunteer may work in a variety of settings, indoors and out, depending on duties being preformed, varying from the park visitor center, memorial building, birthplace grounds, picnic area, off-site, or Knob Creek locations.  

Conditions of Service: 

• This volunteer reports directly to the Volunteer Coordinator.    
• Housing may be available for this position. 

Physical Demands: None.  

Training:  

The volunteer must complete training which will cover topics such as: the mission, history, and management of the park, safety, environmental education, and other related topics. If driving a government vehicle, volunteer must complete the appropriate driving forms and Defensive Driving training to be allowed to drive a government vehicle. 

Other comments:  

The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace, Birthplace unit hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hours worked will typically fall within this timeframe. Typically, the volunteer works a minimum 8 hours a month. Shift lengths are negotiable.
